LELAND, N.C. -- Leland Mayor Walter Futch and council member Brenda Bozeman, both of whom were re-elected in November, took the Oath of Office along with new council member Herbert Barnes at Thursday night's Leland Town Council meeting. Barnes was elected to the seat vacated by outgoing council member Jimmy Medlin, who opted not to seek re-election.
Medlin thanked the current and past councils with whom he served and thanked the citizens of Leland for the opportunity to serve on the council. He was presented with a plaque honoring his work on the council.
The new council unanimously selected Brenda Bozeman as Mayor Pro Tem, a position she has held for the past two years.
